every year vampires hold celebrations called welcomings. the night before the summer solstice, they gather at sunset. the location always changes, spread only by word of mouth. For safety, vampires rarely share territories, so many travel hundreds of miles to participate.

They wear their favorite clothing. Some people wear modern day things, some are wear clothing from when they were living, but all are welcome. they share the knowledge and culture they’ve collected– dances and folktales and recipes and languages and all the little things that make their journeys unique. ancients tell the young about how the world has changed in front of their eyes.. its filled with music and joy, truly one of the few times they can form a community.

and then, when the sun starts to rise, they all head inside– except those who wish to be welcomed. the vampires, usually the old ones but it’s not uncommon for a newborn or two to join, who have decided they have been undead long enough wait for the sun. they welcome death, knowing that their joy and knowledge has been shared.

so I got into grad school today with my shitty 2.8 gpa and the moral of the story is reblog those good luck posts for the love of god

okay so i just got my dream job??? a week after applying to it?? and now i’m thinking….maybe this is the good luck post

…..not even six hours later i got an offer of a well paying full time long-term job with free room and board in queens in nyc, allowing me independence and a way to escape an abusive situation and an unhealthy environment
